Sometimes a bad reputation is a hard thing to get rid of, and in the case of automobiles, this is especially true. If you doubt this, Ford cars were plagued as unreliable for many decades, but it has finally turned this around with improved cars.
But Ford isn’t the only car-maker that has produced less than acceptable cars for sale. You can also add Chrysler, Kia, Hyundai, and Jeep to this group too.
However, the good news is that these car manufacturers have improved some of their weaker models and these have made the most improved cars list, over a time span of 10 years. Here are some of them.
Chrysler 200CIf a car ever wanted to get top honors as the worst car ever made in the U.S., the Chrysler 200C was trying with all of its might to win this dubious title since its first showing in 2010.
Subsequent years were no better and the 200C became harangued for its terrible quality interior. However, with the introduction of the 2015 model, Chrysler has addressed all of the complaints and produced a car that has a great interior and eye-catching styling.
Kia OptimaIf you were looking for a boring mid-sized car, you wouldn’t have to go any further than the Kia Optima, which first came on the scene in 2011. But in a Clark Kent sort of transformation over the past several years, the Kia Optima has become a top choice for this class of automobiles, and is giving the competition a run for its money.
Hyundai AccentKorean car-makers such as Kia and Hyundai had a steep hill to climb in convincing car buyers to consider their brands as viable alternatives to Japanese cars during the early 2000s. The Hyundai Accent did not do much to further this goal, as it was plain looking, somewhat cheaply made, and lacked good standard options.
But in a huge reversal of fortune, Korean-made cars now
surpass Japanese cars in quality and reliability. Hyundai’s Accent is a reflection of this vast improvement and is in direct competition with other subcompact cars such as the Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, and the Nissan Versa.
Jeep Grand Cherokee LimitedLet’s face it, this auto has some of the worst reviews of any car in the past 10 years. The Grand Cherokee, blasted for bad quality, ugly styling, low fuel economy, and a host of other negatives made it the SUV to avoid. But starting with the 2014 models, this Jeep has been refined and fixed and has gotten favorable reviews. The 2015 model gets very high ratings.
In AdditionOther cars that made the most improved list were the Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Impala, Dodge Dart, Chevrolet Colorado, Cadillac CTS, Tesla Model S, Honda Civic, Nissan Altima, and Chevrolet Camaro.
