When you think of luxury cars this means superior creature comforts such as heated seats, big sunroofs, power sunshades, supple leather seats, special trim packages, dual or quad climate controls, premium sound systems, voice controls, and other luxurious amenities.
But one thing that may not cross many people’s minds is good fuel economy for luxury cars. After all, if you can afford a luxury car, why worry about MPG? As it turns out this is something that smart shoppers do take into consideration when buying one.
You can drive in style, but if your luxury car also gives good fuel economy, you’ve won twice. So which cars in this category give you the best MPG?
Full-Sized Luxury Car with Best MPGForget about thinking small. If you want the full-blown treatment of a luxury car with so much interior cabin space that you could put your living room furniture in it (we’re exaggerating a bit) then a full-sized luxury car is the way to go.
At the top of the list for the luxury car with the best fuel efficiency is the BMW 7 Series. What? Aren’t these cars equipped with all-wheel drive and turbo-diesel engines? Yup. But in spite of this the BMW 7 Series pulls in a very respectable EPA rating of 23/32 city/highway tests.
You’ll not only arrive in style to wherever you’re going, you’ll also save some cash while going there.
Luxury Compact Car with Best MPGYou want to consider luxury cars but on the practical side of things, you’ll need a small one due to the size of available parking spaces in your city or town. Or you may just want to leave a smaller carbon foot print by buying a smaller vehicle. If these are your reasons than BMW’s 3 Series is the MPG winner.
We’re not sure how BMW pulled out another win but apparently it's doing something right. This compact car gives an EPA rating of 31/43 city/highway, which is amazing when you consider that it isn’t far behind the numbers posted by some hybrid cars.
The BMW 3 series is a nice little sports wagon that has great exterior styling, and for a compact car it has very good interior space.
Luxury Coupe with Best MPGIt’s getting a little predictable but guess which car brand won the mpg contest for luxury coupe? If you said “BMW” you are correct. BMW takes the gold with its 228I/428I coupes with EPA estimates of 25/36 and 23/32 city/highway mpg, respectively.
Both cars sport a fuel efficient 8-speed automatic transmission, and of course, plenty of luxury features to make you grin from ear-to-ear.
Mid-sized Luxury Car with Best MPGThe Lincoln MKZ has luxury written all over it with a special panoramic sunroof that slides all the way back and rests on the rear window. It's not only a technological wonder, it also gives its passengers a great view like no other.
It’s no slouch for fuel economy either. You’ll be getting an EPA estimate of 45/45 city highway mpg, which is hard to believe for a mid-sized car, or any sized car, for that matter.
The Lincoln MKZ will spoil you with luxury, and if this is what you want, you need not look any further.
