Image: flickr.comNobody likes to see red and blue flashing lights in their rear-view mirror because it can only mean one thing; you’re being pulled over for a moving violation. But did you know there are things you can do to lessen the chance of being written up?

One of the first things you don’t want to do is to make any sudden movements when the police officer comes up to your window. Remain calm and relaxed and you’ll put the officer at ease. He or she will feel safer and this might change the outcome of whether you’ll get a ticket or not.
Why Make the Officer Feel Safe?

Whenever a police officer pulls a driver to the side of the road, the situation can quickly turn ugly if the driver is belligerent or argumentative. There’s no telling how the driver of the car may react, so if an officer feels safe from the beginning of the incident, your odds go up in possibly getting a warning instead of a ticket.

Open Your Window Wide

When the patrol-person comes to your window, roll it all the way down and not just halfway or cracked just enough to speak through. This not only shows the officer you have nothing to hide, it also is a sign of respect to him.

Pull Over Quickly

Nothing irks an officer more or gets her on the defensive than a driver who fails to pull over immediately. This can mean a sign of trouble at worst or an uncooperative driver at best. Pull over fast as soon as you see the flashing lights. Drive as far as you can to the right of the road, as you come to a stop, to allow more room between passing traffic and the police officer.

Hands at 10 and 2 O’clock

After you pull over and open the window, immediately place your hands on the steering wheel at the 10 and 2 o’clock position. This puts the officer at ease because your hands can be seen.

Turn On the Interior Light

If you get pulled over during the nighttime, some police cars will have a floodlight attached that can be directed into your passenger cabin. If the police vehicle isn’t equipped with this, turn on your cabin lights as a courtesy to show there is nothing to fear from you.

Don’t Reach for Your Registration

Typically, the officer will ask for your driver’s license and registration papers. Tell the officer that you need to get them from the glove compartment, or reach into your back pocket for your license. By informing the officer of your actions, this will assure that you aren’t trying anything hostile.

The Possible Payoff

If you’ve followed all of these suggestions, and are courteous and calm, some officers will appreciate your cooperation and your considerateness and let you off with just a warning.

Even if you feel that the ticket is undeserved or in error, don’t argue or do anything that the officer may recall about you. A simple “thank you” is all you need to say. If you contest the ticket, the officer will wind up in court, and if it was a negative experience with you, it isn’t likely that you’ll get a reduced charge recommendation from the officer.

Aw, this was an incredibly nice post. Finding the time and actual effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I hesitate a lot and don't manage to get anything done.

The proceeds of selling your older car can go to the operations of the charity like giving food or clothing to the family that they supported. Strict standards and excellence in service is what made Cullitons the premiere limo service of choice for thousands of Torontonians as well as visiting guests from all over the world. This is a rear-wheel drive car, and that means that unlike front-wheel drive cars - which typically can't be used much beyond B class - the MR2 can be upgraded all the way to the top of A - although going into S class is probably a bit much.

Hey this is kinda of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I'm starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
